THE HISTORY
FROM A HOUSE OF REST TO HEALTH SPA
In the middle of the century, the Château served as a house of rest for the White Fathers Missionary returning from Africa. They were the ones who built the Château in 1955. They first acquired 50 acres of land and one bay side cottage in the 1920's. Later in the 1930's, the Missionaries built cottages, a dormitory, a cafeteria and a chapel in order to accommodate more seminarians. A few years later, they acquired an additional 162 acres of land and erected the main house. The main house, with 15 rooms, lodged older Missionaries returning from their long voyages abroad. At the peak of its existence, 12 fathers would reside for as long as a year.
In the 1960's, with Missionary work declining, the White Fathers converted the Monastery into a summer camp for young seminarians. The camp was administrated by the White Fathers and put to use all buildings except for the Château main house. In the 1970's, the holiday camp for young seminarians also suffered a major decline in members. At that time the White Fathers turned the camp over to a group who ran a summer camp for children.
After a few visits, André Beaulne and Nicole Lanthier, the current owners, purchased the property and buildings on March 20th, 1980, with the intent of running a 15 room Bed and Breakfast, and naming it "Domaine des pères du lac Vert".
A decade later, a change in the tourism market led to the development of Château Les Beaulne. Additional rooms were added, including a dining area, along with an exercise room with a hot tub and a steam bath. On January 15th, 1993 the spa opened its doors to the public.
Since then our clientele has continued to grow with guests returning to the Château year after year. The Château’s reputation continues to spread and achieves awards for best small tourist operation in the area. The Château has won awards for innovation, reception, and client service in 1995, 1996 and 1997. These awards demonstrate the level of commitment the team at the Château Les Beaulne have made to serve our customers. As good standing members of the "Relais Santé Certified Spa Association" we are committed to maintain and exceed the requirements set by the association in terms of quality treatments, registered personnel and the highest achievable level of hygiene.
Since the beginning of the century, the guest roster has dramatically changed, however, the establishment's goal has always remained the same; to care for and pamper the human soul.
Sincerely yours Château Les Beaulne
